Matt & Stacey : Wedding at Mahan’s Lakeview, Wolcott

Hands down Matt & Stacey win best first dance for the 2011 season. I love when couples stray from tradition…instead of a traditional slow dance they surprised guests and danced to Michael Jackson :) and they totally rocked it!! They also take the prize for cutest ring bearer thanks to our puppy friend Ceaser. He was so well behaved during the entire ceremony and even sat for some pictures….we can’t leave out that they also had one kick a** photobooth! You both deserve the best and I hope you enjoyed every minute of your wedding and had an amazing honeymoon….keep scrolling because this is a long one!

Thanks to Amanda Nesto for second shooting and Shaun Daskum for rocking the photobooth!

Melissa & Trevor : Wedding Water’s Edge Westbrook, CT

This couple is one of  the kindest,  caring and appreciative couples I have ever met…and although their wedding day did not go quiet as planned (thanks to mother nature and some poor construction timing ) these two looked passed the hiccups and showed everyone what your wedding day is really about. It was not about where your ceremony took place, but about the anticipation and joy of seeing the man of your dreams waiting for you at the end of the isle. I wish you both lots of love for many many years. I hope you enjoyed every minute of your wedding  honeymoon! Enjoy!

Stephanie & Tim : Wedding at Society Room, Hartford CT

Wedding season is officially in full swing and we are geared up and ready to go. Starting off the 2011 season is Stephanie and Tim…one of the most adorable and loving couples I know ;) As I was spending the morning with the ladies, my sidekick Amanda headed over to hang out with the guys. Total perk when getting ready for your wedding, having a best friend whose mom has her own salon…this gave Stephanie and her bridesmaids an entire salon all to themselves and me plenty of space and a beautiful backdrop for pictures.  Although the weather was a little chilly everyone totally rocked as we snapped away at both Gouveia Vineyards in Wallingford and Bushnell Park in Hartford…we then headed to the amazing Society Room for an evening filled with laughter, tears, lots and lots of dancing and a sneak peak slide show of our photos from the day courtesy of Jock in the Box Entertainment.  Thanks again to Amanda and Diane, you girls rock! Congratulations Stephanie and Tim!

Sterling Opera House : Derby CT

The Sterling Opera House, built in 1889 hosted many great singers and performers during its many years of operation. Its lower levels also served as the towns City Hall and Police Station. Being abandoned for many years it is now claimed to host ghosts…

Since we are always looking for somewhere new and exciting for our photo sessions, when we came across this venue the creative juices went crazy. Maybe it was because its claimed to be haunted,  or maybe because it is not open to the public, but one thing was for certain…we HAD to shoot in this venue. Teamed up with the amazing duo from Maler Photography, Mike & Marcie, we headed to the Opera House on April 2, 2011…the 122nd anniversary of the Opera House. Together with two brave models, an amazing dress,  beautiful flowers, and a ton of camera/video equipment we spent the afternoon in the ‘haunted’ venue. Although we did not see any ghosts, the venue definitely had a haunted aura about it. While Marcie and I were snapping away capturing still photographs, Mike was  in charge of the video footage. (you can check out the video Mike put together here) The Opera House has so many amazing architectural details that I had to include some, well maybe a lot, of them in my post.

A recent visit from TAPS, The Atlantic Paranormal Society, has given the once quiet Opera House some much deserved media exposure. Efforts to restore the opera house have been going on for some time now, but as we all know projects like this cost lots of money. Hopefully with all the recent attention they will find a way to restore this beautiful building. To learn more about efforts to restore the Sterling Opera House please visit http://www.saveoursterling.org/index.html.

One last note…Since the Opera House is not currently open to the public I must thank Uncle Tony for allowing us access for the afternoon…A big thanks to Rich Dicarlo for accompanying us as well as sharing all his Sterling knowledge and stories…To our models who were troopers in the chilly temperatures, Bridal Trousseau for an amazing dress, Blush Floral Design Studio for beautiful flowers and Flaunt My Feathers for a one of a kind hairpiece. We could not have done this without you! Keep scrolling so you do not miss any of the Sterling Opera House goodies :)

Sheena and Jeff : Wedding Mystic, CT

Every wedding has its own theme, its own signature…Sheena and Jeff’s wedding was giant sunflowers!! From her gorgeous full bouquet to the tiny sunflower on the custom cake topper. No detail was left out and not one sunflower was out of place. Although it was the hottest day of the year Sheena stayed cool and was a beautiful bride from the couples first look until the very last song. I must say the guys were real troopers through the entire day…wearing a full suit in extreme heat can not be an easy thing! Thanks to Amanda Nesto of Amamda Rose Photography for having me come along! I hope you guys had a blast and enjoyed your honeymoon!
